Peter Obi Pays Condolence Visit to Buhari’s Family in Daura

Date:

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, on Wednesday visited Daura, Katsina State, to commiserate with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obi arrived at the former president’s private residence in Daura a day after Buhari was buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown.

Speaking during the visit, Obi emphasized the need for unity and compassion, regardless of political affiliation. “In moments like this, we must remember the bonds that unite us beyond politics,” he said.

Former President Buhari died on Sunday in London at the age of 82. His remains were flown back to Nigeria and laid to rest on Tuesday in a ceremony marked by full national and military honours.

The final burial rites saw a solemn procession led by military officials and service chiefs, who accompanied Buhari’s casket to the graveside. A 21-gun salute was fired in his honour.
