The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reportedly resigned from his position.
He reportedly submitted his resignation letter to the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Friday in Abuja. Details surrounding the development remain unclear at the time of filing this report.
Fueling the speculation, sources revealed that Ganduje’s personal belongings were seen being moved out of his office at the APC national secretariat earlier in the day.
Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, further reinforced the reports with a post on his verified X handle (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
“The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources,” Ahmad wrote.
He also added, “The former National Chairman of our party would be succeeded in acting capacity by one of the party’s national vice chairmen until a substantive chairman is elected at the national convention scheduled for December 2025.”
Dr. Ganduje, who previously served as Governor of Kano State, was appointed APC National Chairman in 2023 following the resignation of his predecessor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
