Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the Federal Government is yet to deliver on the promises made to the team by President Bola Tinubu after their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an upcoming episode of With Chude, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that neither the pledged $100,000 cash reward nor the promised three-bedroom apartment for each player has been provided.
When asked by Chude, “Have they delivered the $100,000?” she replied: “We have not received our money, but hopefully it will be paid. They have not paid all the promises. We have not received anything.”
Ajibade explained that while the players were told the funds had been allocated, nothing had actually reached them.
“People are begging. We have not received it. When they pay it, you will see. Even our match bonuses and everything… everything is still a work in progress,” she said.
The forward, who was named Player of the Tournament, led Nigeria to secure a record-extending WAFCON title.
In recognition of the achievement, President Tinubu awarded national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) to the players and technical crew following the Super Falcons’ historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco. He also announced a cash reward of $100,000 and housing gifts for each player.
