There was drama at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Tuesday when suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was prevented from accessing the premises by security officials .
The embattled lawmaker, who was suspended by the Senate for a period of six months, had announced plans to return to her legislative duties following a court judgment ordering her immediate reinstatement.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived at the complex in the company of activist Aisha Yesufu, rights advocate Mama P, and a crowd of supporters. Upon arrival, she was stopped by security officials who insisted she could not proceed into the building.
Tensions rose as some of her supporters, frustrated by the standoff, began shouting ‘Push!’ and tried to force their way past the security barricade.
