Security operatives have uncovered an illegal firearms manufacturing site in Giroji Village, located in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation led to the arrest of four suspects believed to be involved in the fabrication and distribution of locally made weapons.
The discovery was made following intelligence reports about suspicious activities at a residential building in the area. Confirming the incident on Saturday, security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details via his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“Surveillance officers quickly moved in and found two suspects, Shuaibu Abubakar, 35, and Ismail Shuaibu, 18, both from Kiru LGA in Kano State, actively making weapons,” he wrote.
A subsequent search of the premises resulted in the recovery of several items used in the illegal production of firearms. Recovered materials included three locally made guns, three skeletal gun frames, 14 cartridges, five T.06 live bullets, a bench vice, filing and welding machines, iron rods, pipes, binding wire, and a bunch of keys.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects: Hassan Ibrahim of Giroji Village and Murtala Yakubu of Kari in Makarfi. Both are alleged to be members of a local vigilante group.
The suspects are said to have provided useful information during preliminary interrogation. The case has been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
