The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a stern warning over a viral voice note circulating on social media, which alleges that commercial motorcyclists—popularly known as Okada riders—are planning a violent attack against task force officials in the Kubwa area of Abuja on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The alarming voice note, reportedly recorded by an anonymous resident, surfaced on Thursday, July 10. In the recording, the speaker claimed the planned assault is allegedly a response to recent clampdowns by the task force, during which over 200 motorcycles were reportedly impounded between Wednesday and Thursday.
The audio, said to have been recorded by an anonymous resident, has triggered widespread concern among residents in Kubwa and surrounding communities.
Responding to the viral audio on Friday, the FCT Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that it was aware of the recording and issued a clear warning to anyone allegedly involved in the plot.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that such conduct amounts to criminality and will be met with the full weight of the law. Any person or group involved in planning, instigating, or contemplating carrying out any form of violent protest or attack on any law enforcement officials, under whatever guise, is hereby sternly warned to immediately abort such plans,” Adeh stated.
She further emphasized that the FCT Police Command has both the “capacity and the resolve” to protect law enforcement officers and residents within the territory.
“Let it be clear: this is not a threat but a firm assurance. The Command will not hesitate to deploy all lawful means, including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force, to deal decisively with perpetrators of public disorder,” she said.
