Chelsea have won the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after beating Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 in the final on Sunday night at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA. The victory marked Chelsea’s second triumph in the tournament’s history and their first under new manager Enzo Maresca.
The English club took control of the match from the early stages and never looked back, scoring all three goals before halftime. Cole Palmer was central to the win, scoring twice and assisting the third goal in what was a standout performance.
Palmer opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after capitalising on a loose pass in midfield. He added a second in the 30th minute, finishing a low cross inside the penalty area. João Pedro made it 3–0 in the 43rd minute, lifting the ball over PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after receiving an assist from Palmer. The Brazilian forward had only joined Chelsea weeks earlier in a surprise move from Brighton, but his performance proved vital in the final.
“This means everything,” João Pedro said. “To win a global title in my first few weeks at Chelsea—it’s magic.”
Manager Enzo Maresca hailed his team’s performance, praising their discipline, pressing, and composure in the face of elite opposition. “We played with intensity, clarity, and bravery,” Maresca said. “This group is still growing, and tonight showed how far we’ve come in a short time.”
There was a red card in the 85th minute when PSG midfielder João Neves was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella to the ground by his hair.
The post-match scenes were tense as PSG manager Luis Enrique appeared to shove João Pedro amid a heated exchange. While officials quickly separated both camps, the incident drew criticism and further highlighted PSG’s frustration on the night.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who took over earlier in the season, praised his players for their focus and tactical execution. “The performance was very good,” he said. “The players understood what the match required and handled it well.”
Palmer was named Player of the Tournament and received the Golden Ball award. Goalkeeper Robert Sánchez won the Golden Glove.
