ADC Announces New Venue for Unveiling After Hotel Cancels Booking

Date:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led opposition coalition has announced a new venue for the official unveiling of its political platform following the abrupt cancellation of its initial booking at a hotel in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, the event will now hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The change in venue comes after the management of the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja, unexpectedly cancelled the reservation for the event, despite full payment having been made. The decision was made just hours before the unveiling ceremony was scheduled to begin.

The cancellation sparked outrage within the opposition ranks, with some leaders accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of political interference and attempts to frustrate opposition activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

Ukandu, in the statement, expressed the coalition’s determination to proceed despite the setback. “Members of the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, BOT, and other key stakeholders and members are expected to attend. Please note that attendance is self-sponsored,” the statement read.
