Tinubu Visits Survivors of Yelewata Attack in Hospital

Date:

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Wednesday afternoon for a condolence visit following last Friday’s deadly assault on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, where over 200 persons were reportedly killed by suspected armed herdsmen.

The President touched down at the Nigeria Air Force Base Airport in Makurdi at exactly 12:58 p.m. and was received by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, alongside Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

Also present to welcome the President were the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, several federal lawmakers from Benue State, as well as North Central state governors, ministers, and other top government officials.

From the airport, President Tinubu proceeded to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, in Makurdi, where he sympathized with survivors of the gruesome attack currently receiving medical attention.

Following the hospital visit, the President moved to the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House for a closed-door session with critical stakeholders from the state. The meeting was aimed at finding lasting solutions to the rising wave of violent attacks that have continued to plague rural communities across the state.

The President’s visit is seen as part of a broader federal effort to address the worsening security situation and reassure the people of Benue State of government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability.
