APC Chieftain Jesutega Onokpasa Dies

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and respected legal practitioner, Jesutega Onokpasa, has died. The lawyer, known for his outspoken political commentary and firm support for President Bola Tinubu, passed away on Monday under circumstances yet to be made public.

News of his passing was shared on Tuesday by a pro-APC supporter, Okezie Atani, through his official X account. Confirming the loss, Atani wrote, “We lost Barr. Jesutega Onokpasa, may his soul rest in perfect peace.”

A Facebook platform, Renewed Hope United Kingdom, also paid tribute to the late politician, describing him as a devoted figure in Nigeria’s political and legal scenes. In a message titled “A Farewell to a Passionate Advocate: Honouring Jesutega Onokpasa’s Legacy”, the group expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

It stated, “The passing of Barrister Jesutega Onokpasa is a profound loss to the Nigerian political and legal landscape. As a dedicated lawyer and political commentator, he was deeply engaged in shaping discourse and advocating for his beliefs.

“His contributions as a member of the APC Publicity Committee and the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2023 reflected his commitment to his party and the nation. Onokpasa’s voice, whether in support or critique, was a vital part of Nigeria’s democratic conversation, and his absence will be deeply felt. May his family, friends, and colleagues find strength and solace in this difficult time.

“May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace. Amen.”

Jesutega Onokpasa served as a member of the APC’s Publicity Committee as well as the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections. He was widely recognized for his frequent appearances on television, where he strongly defended President Bola Tinubu’s government and its policies.

The late politician was survived by his wife and children.
