The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Public Affairs, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects. The exams were conducted from May 12 to May 23, 2025, across the country.

The results were approved following the conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. (Mrs.) Folake David, who also serves as Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the procedures that guided the conduct and assessment of the exams.

The Award Committee Meeting also had in attendance several secondary school principals from different parts of the country, along with NECO management staff.

In a related development, NECO has also announced the schedule for the 2025 BECE re-sit examinations. The re-sit has been fixed for July 23 and 24, 2025, and will cover two core subjects: Mathematics and English Studies.

This provision is aimed at giving students who did not meet the minimum pass requirements in these key subjects a second opportunity to improve their performance.
